Jackie Chan DC Racing x JOTA Sport takes double overall Le Mans podium after post-race penalties

The #FortuneCat37 Jackie Chan Racing x JOTA Sport LMP2 of Alex Brundle (GB), Tristian Gommendy (FR) and David Cheng (HK) has been promoted to third overall and second in class after rival team Rebellion Racing was disqualified from the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The team was delighted to have finished higher overall than any LMP2 in history on Sunday afternoon, when it’s #38 LMP2 finished second behind the Porsche LMP1, but has now also been awarded a double overall podium at the world’s largest endurance race.*

David Cheng:

“We are, of course, delighted to take a double podium result at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. All of our drivers and crew did an outstanding job for the entire race and they have made history as a result.”

However, knowing first-hand what Rebellion had endured to finish one of toughest races in recent history, the Jackie Chan Racing x JOTA Sport crew feel the disappointment of its rivals to lose an overall podium position and valuable WEC points.

Sam Hignett:

“LMP2 is a fantastic class with some of the top teams in the world and this results in some outstanding racing.

We therefore have the utmost respect for our rivals and feel the pain of everyone at Rebellion for losing their podium result. We look forward to racing them in the remainder of the WEC season and continuing to fight for the championship title.”

The exciting World Endurance Championship battle continues at the Nürburgring in July.
