Get converted! by David Clark

21st October 2016

For all you Motorsport enthusiasts that haven’t converted to watching long distance racing with Prototype/sports and GT cars then start now!

The ACO have done an amazing job over the past 5 years with Le Mans, WEC and ELMS. It’s a very difficult job doing BOP (Balance of Performance) when it works to your advantage you love it, but when it doesn’t you hate it, but when you look at the close racing they seem to have got it right.

The recent race in Fuji proves all of this. During 6 hours of racing, the lead in every category was changing all the time with some fantastic overtaking and after 6 hours of great racing, Toyota won by 1.6 seconds after a titanic battle with Audi and Porsche and a great drive by Kobayashi, obviously an enormously popular home win.

We won LMP2 by 1.3 seconds with a stunning overtake by Will Stevens (he’s having the time of his life with us at G-Drive by JOTA Sport, as is Alex Brundle, Roman Rusinov, Rene Rast, Simon Dolan, Harry Tincknell and Gideo van der Garde)

We got a penalty but still won, I’m not saying it was a wrong decision but a shame they decided on a penalty because, this was truly a great move and great motor racing.

Then you had the great battles in GT between Ford, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche and Corvette. Ford had a 1-2 15 sec apart, their first win of the year.

If you watch every GP of the year and then watch Fuji 6 hours, you will be converted; we are coming into a golden era of long distance racing. Drivers, cars and teams are fully accessible!!
